Private Lesson Policies

Policies are intended to protect the investment of time and finances that families and teachers make

PAYMENT POLICY

Monthly tuition is due before the first lesson of the month. Tuition can be paid via an email invoice prior to the first lesson of the month. Other options for payments are: Check payable to NSA Music Studio. A late charge of $25 will be added after a 7 day grace period after the payment due date. If first lesson payment is not submitted, lessons will not be scheduled or continued until tuition is paid in full.

NUMBER OF LESSONS

Lessons are scheduled on a two semester basis (Sept.-Dec./Jan.-May), with a minimum of 4 lessons per month, unless one of the lessons coincides with a school break or holiday. Your lessons are scheduled on a specific time and day, and we ask that you honor that time. Be note that our teachers dedicate their time specifically for you; we kindly request that you also honor their commitment and time.

LESSON CANCELLATION

Cancellation of lessons is permissible with a 24-hour notice. Same-day cancellations will not qualify for a make-up lesson, except in cases of emergency or illness. It's important to highlight that sports events, social gatherings, and similar reasons are not deemed acceptable for late lesson cancellations, and missed lessons are not eligible for refunds.

MAKE-UP LESSONS

NSA Music Studio will authorize 1 make-up lesson per semester. Make-up lessons will be scheduled on a Friday/Saturday or Sunday at the end of each semester in January and June. (Semester I being September 1 - December 31, and Semester II being January 1 - May 31). You will be able to sign up for a time slot with one of our teachers to make-up your missed lesson. If you do not sign up for or miss a make-up lesson, your make-up lesson will be forfeited and no refund will not be given.  Additional missed lessons will be forfeited after the one make-up is granted per semester.

Important: Please be aware that lesson slots are reserved standing appointments exclusively for each student every week. Similar to dance classes and sports, which do not offer reimbursements for missed rehearsals or team practices, NSA Music Studio also follows this similar policy. We do not provide reimbursements/make-up lessons for missed lessons which exceed the one make-up per semester. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

WAITING AREA

We kindly ask that you enter the music studio 3-5 minutes before the scheduled lesson time. Parents with children under the age of 18 are requested to wait quietly in the designated area, where you can observe and listen to your child's lesson. We kindly ask you to silence your cell phones during the lesson. If you have any inquiries about the lesson, feel free to email your child's teacher after the session to ensure your child receives a complete and productive learning experience.

HAND WASHING PRIOR TO LESSON

Prior to their lesson, we kindly urge students to wash their hands. Considering that many students use the piano throughout the week, we undertake daily disinfection to maintain its cleanliness. Your cooperation in helping us keep the piano impeccably clean is greatly appreciated.

Please enter lesson room with your instrument ONLY  . Cases should be left in the wait area.  Again, please be informed, if you run late for any reason, teachers will not be able to go over the lesson time due to the students coming after you. Rest assured, if the teacher is running a few minutes behind, they will fulfill the full lesson time.

VIRTUAL LESSON

The student should have a quiet lesson space with minimal distractions, tuned instrument, music stand with music book and pencil. Students are given a 15 minute window for virtual lesson when contacted by teacher, if it goes past 15 minutes the lesson time will be forfeited and make- up credit will not be given. Please be informed, if you run late, teachers will not be able to go over the lesson time due to the students coming after you. Rest assured, if the teacher is running a few minutes behind, they will fulfill the full lesson time.

NO SHOWS

If a student is absent and no contact is made to NSA Music Studio, it is considered a "no show" and lesson payment will be forfeited.  This also includes make up lessons. NSA does not give a make-up lesson for missed make-up lesson.

INSTRUCTOR ABSENCE

In the event an instructor is unable to attend a lesson and payment has already been made, a lesson credit will be given for the following month's tuition.

CONDUCT

We will treat you with the utmost respect and expect the same in return. Students, please approach the lessons with a positive attitude, be attentive to the instructor's guidance, and let's enjoy the process of learning together.

PRACTICE

Students are expected to dedicate 4-5 practice at home sessions per week to their lesson materials, aligning the practice duration with their lesson time (30 minutes or 1 hour). For younger students (ages 4-6), instructors will provide guidance on appropriate practice duration. Since students meet with their instructor weekly, consistent practice, at home, is vital for their musical development. Parents play a crucial role in ensuring their child practices regularly. It's important to note that the scheduled lesson time is distinct from practice time. In the event a student frequently attends lessons unprepared, it becomes the instructor's responsibility to discuss proper practice habits with the student and/or parents. If the issue persists, it may lead to potential dismissal or termination from lessons.

BREAK OR TERMINATION OF LESSONS

To discontinue lessons, a one-week notice is essential. Refunds or prorated amounts will not be issued for discontinuations before the end of the month. If a student ends lessons before the semester's conclusion, any make-up credits become invalid. Kindly be aware that we are unable to reserve lesson slots beyond a specified duration.

RECITALS

NSA Music Studio proudly hosts recitals in December and May. We strongly encourage students to partake in these captivating events. A non-refundable recital fee of $20 will be included in the December and May invoices. Opting out of the recital will result in a $20 credit applied to the subsequent month's tuition.
